Samuel Little, whom the FBI identified as the most prolific known serial killer in U.S. history, died in a California hospital on Wednesday, officials said.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed that Little died at age 80 at 4:53 a.m. on Wednesday at an outside hospital. Authorities noted that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office will determine an official cause of death.
California corrections department spokesperson Vicky Waters told The Associated Press that there were no signs of foul play.
